Citroen/ Peugeot/ BMW 1.6 THP Engine - "The Prince of Engines"

Citroen/ Peugeot/ BMW 1.6 THP Engine -

The PSA/BMW 1.6 THP engine - one of the worlds best engines - what car could ruin it?

The DS range started out by adding some much needed style and panache to the Citroen brand. The sports models have the very characterful 1.6 Turbo engine which produces, in its highest states of tune, as much as most of the competitions 2 litres. Part of the reason for the revvy and charismatic delivery, is by being smaller in capacity, the valve curtain area under lift increases, in relation to the cubic capacity. Think 205 1.9 8v vs 1.6 8v. Same bore and stroke and head - 1.6 naturally more rev happy as a result.

So here we have one of the worlds best engines - don't take my word for it - the engine known as Prince, has won eight consecutive International Engine of the Year Awards in the 1.4 to 1.8-litre category.

So just imagine, taking an amazing engine, and emasculating its very soul by putting it in this, rather grotesque, DS7 Crossback (more like Silverback - it's a proper Gorilla of a motor this one).

DS7 Crossback - or maybe Silverback ? Nice Engine - Pony Car

Just imagine if the French had a kit car industry like ours - they could put that engine to much better use. Perhaps a clone of a Caterham 7?

Caterham 7 360

Now that would have some Joie de vivre, wouldn't it?
