Toyota Celica GT4 ST205 ABS Ring replacement

Interesting job in the workshop today - a Celica GT4 ST205 - this was the car that would have Toyota the WRC championship in 1995 were it not busted for cheating. This is a well documented story where the essence of the cheat was to make a restrictor under even close scrutiny look legitimate. Only to find it could partially disengage and leave them with considerably more power.

This episode of cheating arguably affects the value of these cars today. They are worth so much less than an Integrale. However they are still magnificent cars.

This car came to the garage to get the ABS reluctor rings replaced. These rings had broken up in the face of heavy corrosion. Not the easiest or quickest job to attempt, but when you can't get hold of a driveshaft for a car that has failed on the ABS system, this is often the most elegant solution. Particularly so if the driveshaft joints are in good condition.
