TURBOSMART & GFB Wastegates
A wastegate (note Wastegate chatter is NOT a thing !) is a valve either internal (IWG) or External, which uses the boost signal to control the flow of exhaust gas from an engine to the turbocharger. By controlling the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine of the turbocharger, the wastegate can control the boost pressure provided by the turbocharger to the engine. The wastegate needs to be correctly sized for the engine and turbocharger combination to give the end user adequate control on boost pressure. Early Turbo cars had a fixed level of boost delivered by the wastegate. When you remove electronic boost control you car will only deliver "base boost" provided by the wastegate.
