Corner Weights - how far out will they be?

Corner Weights - how far out will they be?

How Important is Corner Weighting?

If you install a set of coilovers, you may be thinking of getting corner weights done. You may well need them done. The majority of cars we see in for set up are miles out on the RF/RL cross weight. You want this at 50% for a car going left and right.

Recently I read about a driver who could only turn right - tricky to make most journeys. However they could have benefited from a wedged set up.

I've always been an advocate of worrying less about the position of the centre of the wheel to the top of the arch, and more about the spring seat left to right. If you set them all square you will be at a figure close to 50%.

Check out this figure - this is straight off the bat - no tweaking - 49.1% - less than 20kg to move around the cross weights to get this on 50%. Would you notice it if you got it to 50%? Sure I think you would - so it is worth doing. Most of the cars we get in here have been installed on a wing and a prayer and are 54% of more - then you are talking about a significant amount of weight in the wrong place.  Here is our guide to a  successful coilover install.
